Enhance your analytical capabilities with a revolutionary second detector
IMS as a Second Detector for GC
Common GC detectors, including FID, TCD, and ECD, provide no information about eluted samples; they only respond to the presence of a chemical, regardless of its nature. Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) stands out as a rapid analytical technique capable of serving as a powerful detector for GC with identification capabilities. Integrating IMS with GC not only enhances the separation power but also enables the distinction between coeluted samples, offering valuable insights that can facilitate the identification of unknown compounds. Additionally, it is extremely sensitive to most chemicals of interest such as drugs, toxins, VOCs, and TICs.
Each GC peak corresponds to a distinctive IMS spectrum, forming a unique signature for the chemical compound. Analyte identification may be achieved through comparison with a library of standard samples.
